Welcome to Southwest Pool Leagues

Where did the Southwest Pool League Come From?

In 2007 I began organizing pool leagues in Las Vegas with the LVPPA (Las Vegas Pool Players Association). I did have modest growth going from 0 teams to 30 or so, which isn't' to bad considering my biggest competition was Southern Nevada 9 Ball which is one of the oldest pool leagues in the nation. Southern Nevada 9 Ball began in 1974 and at their peak had over 600 teams, There league parties were in casino banquet rooms and players spent the weekend at the hotel for these parties. It was a yearly event not just a party. For the next 9 years we battled for teams every season. During this time Southern Nevada 9 Ball had shrunk to 70 - 80 teams a season (and dropping) from the 250-300 teams they had when I started my league in 2007. I also had reached a point where I quit growing but was holding steady with 25 -30 teams a season. One night at Lake Mead Tavern we ran into each other, talked a little and decided it might be beneficial to both of us to merge the two leagues instead of beating each other up each season. After a week of thought, it was decided that we would merge the two leagues. So, in 2016 I put in all my teams and she put in all hers to form one league. We kept the Southern Nevada 9 Ball name (but dropped TOA) since they had a long lasting reputation in Las Vegas. For the next 8 years I took care of Southern Nevada 9 Ball except for the finances and collecting some sheets. All things considered at the least I would say it was a partnership. I unfortunately was not smart enough (and to trusting) to get anything in writing and about a month before the new Fall 2024 season was to start, I was told she sold the league along with the teams I brought in and 8 years of my work without any warning or any compensation what so ever. I have invested 17 years of my time to Las Vegas pool, I have made so many good friends and had way to much fun to just walk away.

So, I have reworked some of the rules and procedures, upgraded the player awards, developed a real team handicap system to replace the antiquated "A" player system and have made a few other changes to enhance the pool league experience.

I will be starting up The Southwest Pool League beginning in January 6th 2025.

The Southwest Pool League was designed by players for players. It is extremely player friendly and fair.
